Finn was really sweet with Kay this weekend. He doesn't get to see her that often. But he took right to her. They played together as if no time had passed since the last visit.

Selkes At The Columbus Zoo
Jason's mom came into town this weekend from Texas and we decided to go to the Columbus Zoo. Amy, Jason's sister, and her husband and two kids drove from Cleveland to meet us at the Zoo. We had quite a bit of fun here. And we couldn't have asked for a better day. It was clear blue skies with plenty of sun. The weather was 75 degrees and there was a constant breeze. This zoo is enormous!
The zoo is exhausting! What can I say, the boy will nap under just about any circumstance.
Ice Ice Baby
The fabulous Kroger Marketplace in Beavercreek is where I do my grocery shopping. It is the same distance from my house as the one I used to go to in Kettering; and it is way better. Ever since it was finished, we have been going there and I really love it. They have a drink station right by the produce section, which is where we go first when we get there. All I have to do is get a large cup of their crushed ice and put it in the basket next to Finn. He will sit in that basket and pick those tiny cubes up one piece at a time and eat them. It keeps him busy the whole time we are there. His fingers are usually pretty cold by the time we leave, but it is well worth it. He acts like there is candy in that cup. Now he recognizes the drink station and points to it with excitement when we get close.

Babies In A Swing
This was just sent to me by our caregiver, Jessie. From left to right, Marshall, Finn, Boston and Cali.
Boston and Marshall are my cousin Rene's two boys that Jessie watches also; and Cali is Jessie's daughter.
The kids really play well together. It's pretty cute!
New Birthday Couch
Finn decided to wake up at 6:30am this morning, which is just way too early for Mommy. So we came downstairs and had some quiet time and watched some Mickey Mouse Clubhouse before breakfast.

One Year Check Up
At one year, Finn weighs 22 pounds even (only a pound and a half weight gain since 9 month check up). Dr. Eisenhut said he isn't gaining a lot of weight, but didn't seem overly concerned. He is 32 inches long (only 1 inch longer than 9 months). He is still in the 98th percentile for height. And apparently he has a huge head. His head circumference in the 98th percentile too! He is on track with motor skills and milestones. Actually, since he says "thank you" (which sounds like "tang too"), he is a little ahead by putting two words together. Dr. Eisenhut said Finn could totally walk right now if he wanted to. He thinks Finn is just a little scared. But the balance is there, he just needs to let go!
Dr. Eisenhut said to take him completely off bottles. That seems a little extreme to me. He was getting 2 bottles a day; one at nap time and one before bed. I think going cold turkey could be a little harsh. But maybe I am over-estimating Finn. I cut out his afternoon bottle the next day after his appointment and so far, he seems totally unaffected. Maybe it won't be that difficult. So I guess in a couple weeks we will do away with the night time bottle too. I have to say, it will be nice to not have to wash bottles anymore. It will give me a little break on that before baby #2 comes.

Finn's 1st Birthday Party
We had sandwiches from Jimmy Johns, salad, fruit skewers, and snacks - and of course... Cake!!
The Fortman girls love Finn. Especially Isabella (in the blue flower)
We couldn't have asked for better weather! It wasn't too hot and the sun was shining the whole day. It was a perfect day for hanging out outside - which is good because it would have been cramped if everyone had to be inside.
The cake was adorable! It was delicious too. It was banana cake with cream cheese icing.
This was Finn's smash cake. Except, he didn't feel like smashing it. He was totally uninterested in the touching the cake. I finally pushed his finger into it and he immediately held his finger up to me with this look on his face like "Mommy, my finger is dirty - wipe it off"
He didn't even want to eat it. He had just eaten lunch, so maybe he was full or something.
Well, not too full for some ice cream...
Presents!!
