40 Weeks and ready for induction. Time to go to the hospital!
The induction was a pretty easy process. I kept my regular clothes on until the very end. We were just relaxing and watching TV while the Cytotec went to work on getting my cervix ready for birth. Things didn't start getting intense or super painful until much later. By 1:00am I was ready for an epidural. At that point, I was 6 centimeters dilated and getting quite uncomfortable.
At 3:30am my doctor was called in to check me. He said the only thing keeping me from dilating further than the 7 centimeters I was at, was my bag of water. He said breaking my water would probably make things go pretty quickly. So I decided to call my mom and let her know it was time to meet us at the hospital. At 4:00am my water was broken. 10 minutes later I was fully dilated and ready to push. The sensation of that was crazy. I felt like the baby was about to just come out and birth itself. I did everything I could to fight the urge to push. I really wanted my mom to be there for the birth of our baby. She got to the hospital and into our room at 4:55am. We were completely ready to go. As soon as she got there I pushed with my next contraction and the baby's head came out. I pushed again and the baby was born at 5:01am. It happened so fast! I think I am still in shock!
It's a boy!!
He was 8lbs 13oz and 21 inches long.
We named him Noah Patrick Selke.
Dr. Guy and Noah
Time to go home!
Our furnace died the same day we were supposed to go home from the hospital so we went to my mom's house, where Finn was waiting for us. He seemed pretty unsure of Noah. I think he was just excited to see us. We missed him so much!!
After a couple days at my mom's house,
our furnace was fixed and we headed home to begin life as a family of 4.
