At one year, Finn weighs 22 pounds even (only a pound and a half weight gain since 9 month check up). Dr. Eisenhut said he isn't gaining a lot of weight, but didn't seem overly concerned. He is 32 inches long (only 1 inch longer than 9 months). He is still in the 98th percentile for height. And apparently he has a huge head. His head circumference in the 98th percentile too! He is on track with motor skills and milestones. Actually, since he says "thank you" (which sounds like "tang too"), he is a little ahead by putting two words together. Dr. Eisenhut said Finn could totally walk right now if he wanted to. He thinks Finn is just a little scared. But the balance is there, he just needs to let go!
Dr. Eisenhut said to take him completely off bottles. That seems a little extreme to me. He was getting 2 bottles a day; one at nap time and one before bed. I think going cold turkey could be a little harsh. But maybe I am over-estimating Finn. I cut out his afternoon bottle the next day after his appointment and so far, he seems totally unaffected. Maybe it won't be that difficult. So I guess in a couple weeks we will do away with the night time bottle too. I have to say, it will be nice to not have to wash bottles anymore. It will give me a little break on that before baby #2 comes.
